Breast Lift

What is a Breast Lift?

Breast lift (or mastopexy) is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts by tightening the skin and repositioning the nipple and breast tissue. Factors such as pregnancy, nursing, weight change, aging, and gravity produce changes in the appearance of a woman’s breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, breasts often lose their shape and begin to sag. A breast lift is different than a breast augmentation as it does not add volume to the breast size; however, the procedure can be combined with a breast augmentation or fat grafting. Together with Dr. Farhang Khoee, you will be able to decide your specific surgical needs and which option is best for you.

Who is the Ideal Candidate?

An ideal candidate is a person in good health and requesting a breast lift to:

  • Rejuvenate the breasts by raising and reshaping sagging breasts
  • Reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin around the nipple
  • To correct asymmetries of the breasts (they appear to be different sizes and/or shape)

What is the Recovery Time?

In general, the recovery time following a breast lift procedure is approximately 3 to6 weeks. Most people are ready to return to work and light activities just one week after surgery, but you will need to avoid strenuous activity for up to 4 weeks. Breast shape is not natural immediately after surgery. After 4 weeks it will have largely settled, but ultimately, the shape will continue to develop for about 6 months before the final shape is established. Dr Farhang Khoee will help you through your post-operative recovery period and monitor each step of the process.
