Neck Lift
What is a Neck Lift?
A neck lift, or lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that improves the visible signs of aging around the neck to restore a youthful contour. Aesthetic issues of the neck are common and include excess skin and bands, giving the characteristic appearance of a “Turkey neck”. A neck lift comprises a series of procedures that can include trimming the excess skin, removing and repositioning muscle, tightening connective tissues, and liposuction through small incisions under the chin and behind the ear. It can be done alone, or as part of a Facelift surgery.
Who is the Ideal Candidate?
An ideal candidate is a person in good health and requesting a neck lift for the following reasons:
- Desire a more youthful look of the neck
- Self-conscious about a “Turkey neck” appearance
- Correction of muscle banding in the neck, which has created abnormal contours
- Excess or sagging skin of the neck
- Reducing the chin/neck fullness
- Previously undergone a facelift
What is the Recovery Time?
In general, the recovery time for a neck lift is approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Within 2 weeks of surgery, your bruising and swelling will likely have improved such that you can go out in public with some makeup. You’ll still need to avoid strenuous activity for up to 4 weeks. Dr Farhang Khoee will help you through your post-operative recovery period.
